Wayne C. Rice, 96, of Moweaqua, IL formerly of Blue Mound, IL passed away on Saturday (May 12, 2012) at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
A service to celebrate Wayne’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday (May 16, 2012) at Zion Chapel United Methodist Church, Boody, IL. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday (May 15, 2012) at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Blue Mound. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery, rural Blue Mound. Memorial contributions may be directed to Zion Chapel United Methodist Church.
Mr. Rice was born on January 4, 1916 in Blue Mound, IL, the son of Joseph R. and Ethel M. (Damery) Rice. Wayne was a farmer and a self-employed electrician. He was a member of Zion Chapel United Methodist Church, Blue Mound Rotary Club, Soy City Camping Club and a former member of Decatur Audubon Society. He was involved with P.A.M. Agricultural Museum. Wayne married Lois A. Zimmerman on January 6, 1937. She preceded him in death on August 3, 2008.
Surviving are his children: Marian Webel of Decatur, IL, Lloyd Rice of LaFayette, CO, David Rice and his wife Sharon of Blue Mound, IL and Delores Logue and her husband Bill Koretke of Decatur, IL; sisters-in-law: Barbara Rice of Florissant, MO and Ruby Travis of Harristown, IL; grandchildren: Monica (Keith) Reynolds, Michelle (Brian) White, Marla (Ed) Drellishak, Lori (Brad) Shuler, Linda (Ken) Pipkins and Lisa (Scott) Nesler; 11 great grandchildren; 9 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother: Howard Rice.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Moweaqua Nursing and Retirement Center and to DMH Hospice for the care that Wayne received.

I always looked forward to seeing your Mom and Dad walking in to our monthly Audubon meetings. They were always faithful to be there and often in not so great of weather. We will all miss both of them so very much. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.

We spent many hours with Wayne at PAM and the Blue Mound Fall festival where he took care of the electrical work for years. Wayne will be greatly missed. We are so sorry for your loss.
